Just been to John Head and Alan Bell's Lotus Notes Domino with OpenOffice.org ...

Alan and John gave us lots of demos of incorporating Lotus Notes with OpenOffice.org Word Processor: writer, Powerpoint Presenter Impress and Spreadsheet program: Calc.

Alan Bell: http://www.dominux.co.uk

John Head: http://www.psclistens.com

At the end they demonstrated some hot new code that incorporated OpenOffice.org 1.1 into Notes 8 using The IBM Productivity tools.

The code they demonstrated with OpenOffice.org worked with the tools loaded with Notes 8. Unchanged.

The Productivity tools can be installed with Lotus Notes 8. They are free!

Whether this happens can be specified in the server rules. Cool.

You can load your old MS Office files into OpenOffice.org and then save them in the open document format which is based on XML.

Is this the beginning of the end of Microsoft Office?
