i realised that is was another notes 7 design change messes up on notes 6 issue.
It seems if you save theview in notes 7 designer, the property "Don;t show empty categories" doesn;t work in notes 6.
Very annoying. Anyway now you know.
i think I am going to have to have a virtual machine for each server and client version then.
